This excel money tracker is a tool you can use that provides clear data of your spending habits. It requires only the basic information including the expense item, the date it was incurred, payment method used, amount spent, and a checkbox you can mark to determine if the expense is a need or a want.
A summary of your total budget, total spending, and remaining balance for the month is also highlighted at the top part of the template for easy viewing.
Instructions:
Indicate which month you’re tracking along with your total budget. At the topmost part of the template, indicate the specific month you’re tracking as well as your total budget for the said month.
Enter date and expense item. Enter the specific date when an expense is incurred as well as the specific expense item.
Enter the payment method used for each expense. In every expense listed, enter the payment method used on the same row – be it cash, checks, credit card, debit card, or others.
Specify amount for each expense. In every expense listed, enter its corresponding amount on the same row.
Tick either the need or want box provided. Tick the appropriate box to determine if the expense incurred is a need or a want.
Leave notes if needed. Feel free to leave notes on the template if deemed necessary.
Review your money tracker. Upon entry of all details, you can review your tracker to see whether or not you have exceeded your planned budget.
